About Margaret Schoener is a professional genealogist. She is the owner of MJS Genealogical Research. She was born in Media, Pennsylvania, and grew up in the suburban Philadelphia area. In 1970 she relocated to Houston, Texas, where her love for genealogy had its start. She has been researching both her mother’s and father’s family lines for over twenty years and is compiling a family history of her mother’s 6th great grandfather descending from him. He settled in Monmouth County, New Jersey in the mid-1600s. In 2017 she completed a Genealogy Research course through Boston University Center For Professional Education and has gone on to study online classes for her Associate’s Degree in Family History Research at Brigham Young University-Idaho, which she received in 2021. She is currently taking classes at Brigham Young University-Idaho to complete her Bachelor’s Degree in Professional Studies with a minor in Business Management. In 2018 she opened her business MJS Genealogical Research with an emphasis on forensic genealogy to assist law firms in probate court cases searching for missing or unknown heirs.
